Hello
dear fellows,
In
regard to the flipped learning, I can say that:
1.
My first reason for flipping my classroom is focused on the fact that the
student of today lives stuck to his laptops, iPads, tablets, among other
electronic devices that make them happy. Therefore, we as educators must be
updated and focus our teachings to the interests of our current students. By
sending our students interactive videos of the classes we are teaching, we give
them the opportunity to use their technological tools in a fun way and motivate
them to learning, having more opportunities to correct any mistakes in the
learning process and be fully prepared for classroom classes.
2.
My second reason for flipping my classroom is that through this teaching
method, I can guarantee an effective differentiation for all my students. Since
it allows my group, regardless of their different learning styles, to have the
opportunity to learn and effectively engage in learning globally. It also,
allows me as an educator to have more time to guide my students in learning a
certain subject; because with the different online assignments, the student is
acquiring knowledge and only comes to the classroom to apply what has been
learned and clarify doubts of certain subjects.
MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE
What will be your biggest
challenge for using technology in your class? How can you solve some problems?
In
my case the biggest challenges I had in my class for using technology this year
has been the lack of projector in my classroom during the first and part of the
second term and also, the shortage of time to use technological devices such as
tablets and laptops, that we use to teach topics of: ICT subject, Bug Club (an
award-winning, blended literacy program for reading levels 1-30) and Mathletics
(an award winning interactive site that aims to improve pupils Maths skills
through fun activities linked to the UK National Curriculum).
The
lack of a projector in my classroom during the first and part of the second
term was one of the most difficult impediments I had to use the other
electronic devices, since the projector allows us to show students every step
which must be followed on iPads and laptops, so that they can study and comply
with part of the curriculum. Also, it allows to make the classes more
interactive with videos, images and games.
What
I did to try to solve the problem, during the first and part of the second term
without the projector, was to draw the various icons, folders, names and
important images on different cardboards and even on the board, where the
children had to enter with their computers and IPads to work. I also, attended
each child in their chairs to answer questions and teach them how to use the
programs we were exploring.
On
the other hand, the shortage of time to use electronic devices was another
factor that affected our teaching and learning process using technology.
However, what I did as homeroom Teacher to lessen this problem was to use time
from other general subjects to continue teaching the topics I was teaching with
the electronic devices.
In
addition, I can say that I agree with what Rosalba comments on the internet
poor connection that the public schools have in our country. I also worked in
public school for a while and it was very difficult for me to use the internet
with electronic devices. We had even a computer lab, however the internet
signal was very bad. In order to use the internet I had to anchor the computers
with the internet of my cell phone.
Hi Rusbeth. I think that all teachers have faced some issues while teaching technology, but there is nothing that we can´t solve.
ReplyDeleteIs not the similarity of our challenges striking? The positive of this is that in the end, our students benefit from studying with technological tools to face the world in a better way.
Good post!
